EVA2008 - The first youth festival at Dresden's Frauenkirche

EVA started

The first EVA festival took place at Whitsun 2008. It attracted some 25.000 participants from seven countries! They all came to the Frauenkirche to rock, kick, celebrate, bible and pray.

EVA asked and answered

EVA2008 had a motto which was derived from a sullen question asked by Cain when he was asked by God where his brother Abel was: "Am I my brother's keeper?" EVA2008 meant to question to what extent young people today are ready to take responsibility and get involved. And EVA showed: There is no "can't be buggered" generation.  There was a project mile and a market of ideas on which youth initiatives presented their work, young people helped to organise thematic centres, and the stage events were put together by young artists. EVA lived because of you. And that's the best answer to Cain's question: Yes, we're all keepers.

EVA inspired

2.500 people signed up for a festival ticket for the entire festival period - even 2.800 if all the hard-working volunteers are included. The biggest events were the open air service in the blazing sun on Whitsunday and a rock concert with a well-known German band (2raumwohnung); the former attracting some 5.000 people and the latter twice as many. The biggest workshop was attended by 150 youngsters wanting to sing gospel music.

EVA rocked

EVA2008 offered a good mixture of concerts of well-known bands and interesting newcomers, religious impulses, workshops, thematic discussions, theatre, games and sports plus lots of interesting projects. EVA rocked with a cool mixture of young musicians, theatre groups, gospel bands and choirs. EVA in concert presented 2raumwohnung, Philipp Poisel, Verra Cruz and D:Projekt. Plus: Judy Bailey, Radiopilot, Das Blaue Einhorn and Blossom. And DJ Big H. And those who regarded such bands as too noisy were invited to attend the Chill'n'pray, sound projects and the TANZCOMPANIE Leipzig.

EVA ... to be continued!

A big majority was impressed with the atmosphere and all the events taking place during the EVA festival. Three out of four visitors liked the package. And 80 percent were sure: We want to be there when the next EVA takes place!

"EVA2008? Been there, seen that, bought the t-shirt ... but I can assure you I'll be back for EVA2010!"
